Matthew Johnson Salcido is a climate justice activist, prison abolitionist, and gun sense advocate. He’s best known for his work as State Lead for US Youth Climate Strike, National Coordinator for Youth Equality Project, and Executive Board Member of March for our Lives. You may have seen him hustling with YouGoGirl OK, Women’s March Oklahoma, and Project Period. Matthew is proud to be a visible trans man, carving out spaces for intersectional advocacy that forefront the needs of marginalized queer youth.
Mataia Blackwell is from Ada, OK and is currently a senior at The University of Oklahoma, majoring in Human Relations with a minor in Psychology. She is a member of the McNair Scholars program, where her research focuses on the treatment Black women face during their childbirth experiences within public healthcare institutions. Mataia is incredibly passionate about social justice issues and fighting oppressive systems. She has organized events for Black LGBTQ+ students at OU and served as a residential assistant for the Chickasaw Nation Arts Academy. Mataia plans on dedicating her life and work to helping marginalized groups.
