School Board FAQ

  • Check out our spreadsheet with School Board contact information. Send them an email, give them a call, or attend a school board meeting. You can find all of this information in our spreadsheet. If it is not listed, you may have to contact your school or superintendent directly to be able to find out more about meeting times and board contact information.

  • School Boards are the governing body over a school district. They often dictate school policy and change. Building rapport and relationships with the school board will help to ensure that all students and perspectives are considered when changing and implementing new policies in your school.

  • There are many different ways to engage with school board organizing. Not everyone can safely share their story. We encourage you to talk to those who are most affected by policy change and enforcement, and share their stories (while remaining confidential) in order to share how others may be impacted by the changes. Speak at a meeting, meet with a council member one on one, share out notes or a recording of each meeting (when they are public meetings), or let others know when and where meetings occur. Remember, we can all collectively bring our different strengths together to ensure lived equity for all!

  • This does not mean that you cannot get involved with your district’s school board. Public education is not only to benefit the student, but the community the student is raised. You are more than welcome to share your perspective and hopes for the future of the students in your district.

  • We love to see it! We have compiled a list of resources on how to reach out to appointed and elected officials- which includes members of school boards. YAM resources are geared towards youth, but the learning is for all ages! Check it out here: Youth Action Month Resources

Contact us if you have updated school board information or need more information.

We welcome additional information on school boards such as updated dates and times, policy changes, procedures on how to speak at a meeting, any public information available on how to reach a council member, etc. Most of our current information is for the 2023 calendar year, as board meeting schedules do not run as the 2023-2024 school year. We will continue to update the list as we have capacity, and your contribution is appreciated!

Please also contact us if you have a question or specific need to be addressed. We are happy to assist in learning more about School Board Engagement!
